Actemium Marine Scope of Work
Actemium Marine Lorient, supported by Actemium Marine Factory and Actemium Marine Systems, is carrying out the complete electrical retrofit of the Ar Vag Tredan passenger catamaran, operated by Lorient Agglomération in Lorient harbour.
The purpose of this retrofit is to enable the vessel to operate with zero CO₂ emissions in 100% electric mode on the B1 route, connecting Quai des Indes in Lorient with Pen Mané in Locmiquélic.
For this project, Actemium Marine is drawing on its expertise in power generation and distribution, energy conversion and management, electric propulsion, automation, supervision, communication and navigation.

Project Highlights
An Energy Architecture Offering Three Operating Modes
The retrofit of Ar Vag Tredan is based on an energy architecture that enables the vessel’s operation to be adapted to its operational requirements through three operating modes:
- 100% electric mode
- Hybrid mode
- 100% generator-set mode
The vessel is equipped with a 440 kWh LFP battery system, enabling it to operate on the B1 route between Lorient and Locmiquélic.
Its propulsion system features two 120 kW electric motors coupled with azimuth thrusters.
A Retrofit Supporting Low-Carbon Maritime Mobility
In addition to modernising the vessel’s electrical and energy architecture, the project also includes the creation of a new passenger area on the upper deck.
This retrofit combines technological upgrades, a reduced carbon footprint when operating in electric mode, and improved onboard facilities for passengers.
